also known as Icaraí de Amontada, is a charming village nestled in a beautiful bay, surrounded by hundreds of palm trees that shield it from the wind and give the area an exotic feel. This unique setting has made Icaraizinho kitesurf trips especially popular — many say it feels like what Jericoacoara was 30 years ago, but with stylish restaurants and beachfront pousadas just steps from the sand.
Though it’s slowly gaining popularity with travelers, Icaraizinho still maintains its authentic vibe thanks to the locals and the global community of kiters who pass through.
With multiple spots offering diverse conditions, turquoise waters and a laid-back, cosmopolitan atmosphere, Icaraí de Amontada is the kind of place you’ll always want to return to — and a perfect stop on one of our coastal Kite Safaris.

Icaraizinho de Amontada — or simply “Icaraí” — sits right in the middle of Brazil’s wind corridor, blessed with steady trade winds that blow from July to January. The famous “Leste” wind kicks in by late morning and stays strong until sunset, averaging 18 to 28 knots with incredible reliability. Expect warm tropical air around 30 °C and sea temperatures close to 27 °C, so you can kite all day in just boardshorts or a bikini. Thanks to the natural bay and surrounding headlands, the wind stays smooth and consistent, creating perfect conditions for freeride, freestyle, and small wave sessions — making Icaraizinho one of Brazil’s most versatile and wind-safe kitesurfing spots.

Icaraizinho is a kitesurfing haven with spots for every style and level — all within one stunning bay. The main beach in front of town is sheltered from the wind, so it’s perfect for those wanting to relax and just enjoy a smooth breeze. To the east of the bay, you will find a top wave spot with waves ramping up to 2m when the swell is good. In the eastern point of the bay the wind is a bit offshore creating amazing flat water conditions with low and medium tides (be careful with rocky sections here). Towards the west of the bay you’ll find the main spot with mellow waves perfect for beginner waves riders and intermediates to improve their technique. This spot is great for wing foilers too! To the western point of the bay, sandbars and low tide form glassy flat sections ideal for complete beginners. For a touch of adventure, take a short downwinder from Caetanos or towards Moitas and Praia de Patos, where you’ll glide past palm-lined beaches and empty stretches of coast under the same steady wind. With its versatility and easy-going vibe, Icaraizinho is one of Brazil’s most balanced and beautiful kite destinations.

Icaraizinho is a key stop — and sometimes the grand finale — on several of our Downwind Kite Safaris along Brazil’s northeast coast. Perfectly positioned in the middle of the way between Cumbuco and Jericoacoara, it’s where steady wind meets mellow village charm. You will pass by Icaraizinho during many of our trips our Classic Downwind Route or it’s shorter version, the Classic Downwind Express. Our Downwind Wave Coaching Trip (Taiba to Icaraizinho) finishes right here, giving riders the chance to combine daily downwinders with expert coaching in wave-riding and technique. It can also be part of many of the tailored-made routes that we design for our clients, such as our Combo Kite Safari — a 400 km journey across three states that showcases the best of Brazil’s coastline. Whether you’re training, exploring, or just soaking up the tropical rhythm, Icaraizinho offers the perfect mix of comfort, adventure, and that endless Brazilian wind.
