This journey is all about rhythm — the steady pull of the wind, the sound of waves, and the feeling of freedom as you move north each day. Over ten unforgettable days, you’ll ride more than 250 km from Taiba to Tatajuba, tracing Brazil’s wild coastline through empty beaches, lagoons, and dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see.

This downwinder is an express version of our classic route. It covers the same distance but in less days.

Every leg brings something new: smooth freeride sections, playful waves, river crossings, and long open reaches with nothing but you, your kite, and the horizon. FreerideKitesurf guides ride beside you, while 4×4 support follows along the sand — ready with water, snacks, and a lift if you ever need it.

By the time you reach Tatajuba, you’ll have crossed three states, countless beaches, and maybe a new personal best for stoke.

Your Crew & Guides

Local Knowledge. Global Experience. Total Support.

Every Classic Downwind Express is guided by a team that lives and breathes Brazil’s wind. Our Freeride Kitesurf guides are seasoned riders who have spent years exploring the Ceará coastline — locals who know every beach, lagoon, and wave section by heart.

They don’t just show the way — they ride with you, helping set the rhythm and ensuring every downwind feels effortless and fun. Each trip includes at least one in-water guide riding alongside the group, with 4×4 vehicles tracking the route along the sand, carrying fresh water, gear and support crew. Radios and GPS keep everyone in sync at all times.

Behind the scenes, our logistics team and local partners handle everything from pousada coordination to transfers, hydration and snacks, so you can focus fully on the ride.

With Freeride Kitesurf, you’re not joining a tour — you’re joining a crew of riders who share the same passion for wind, freedom, and discovery.

Accommodation & Meals

Each stop along the journey offers carefully selected pousadas — locally owned, beachside or close to the beach accommodations that provide comfort, character, and easy access to the water. These places are more than just somewhere to sleep; they’re part of the cultural experience, offering a taste of Brazil’s coastal hospitality. Meals are rooted in regional flavors, with daily breakfast included, and dietary preferences catered for when possible. Evenings bring a relaxed, social vibe where kiters can unwind, share stories, and recharge for the next day’s downwind ride.

What about safety on the water?

We’ve got you covered. Our guides are always out there with you, riding just like part of the crew, while the support boat follows along in case anyone needs a break or a quick gear swap. Radios keep us connected, and every route is chosen to match the vibe and skill level of the group — so you’ll feel challenged in the best way, but never out of your depth.

It’s all about keeping things fun and stress-free. Knowing someone’s watching your back lets you push a little harder, go for that extra-long ride, or just relax and enjoy the endless wind. Think of it as kiting with a team of friends who know the coastline inside out — adventure first, but always with peace of mind.

What Kitesurf equipment should I bring?

Bring gear that’s in great condition — repairs during the trip can be difficult. Two boards and up to four kites per person are welcome, and a backup bar or spare lines are smart additions. We also recommend checking footstraps and bringing replacements just in case. While we carry some repair items, compatibility with all brands isn't guaranteed.

You can switch boards or kites mid-journey, so feel free to bring a twin-tip, waveboard, or both. With water temperatures around 82°F (28°C), a wetsuit isn’t necessary. We’ll provide a long-sleeve lycra. Booties aren’t needed (for lower level riders they might be needed in some parts), but if your kite uses a non-standard valve, bring your adapter.

Testimonials

I just returned from the Classic Downwinder in Brazil. I am still buzzing with excitement. Garcia and his staff put together an 11/10 package. The support on and off the water, the knowledge of the spots and locations, the accommodations, the food...everything. It was hands down one of the best experiences of my life. I got to kite endless amounts of waves and flat water, explore towns i never would have accessed on my own, and met with other surfers from around the world that i now call friends. Brazil has incredible culture, wind, and kite spots, and there is no better way to get so much in, so hassle free, than with Freeride Kitesurf. I will be back for the Wild North trip as soon as i can! Huge thanks to Garcia, Thales, George and Roberto. Selva!

Had an amazing time on the Downwind Classic Express! Everything was really well organized, though the pre-trip info could have been a bit more timely. Once we got going, it was smooth sailing. The pousadas were great—clean, comfy, and good value for money, with solid breakfasts to fuel the day. The team did a great job and with two guides making sure everyone, no matter their level, had a blast. Outstanding, this would seriously have ruined some other trips! Shoutout to the drivers—fun, engaging, and safe behind the wheel and super careful with our gear. Plus, the group vibe was just awesome. I’ve done quite a few downwinders, and this one was definitely among the best-run. Highly recommend!

Just finished an epic trip with Freeridekitesurf- the classic downwinder. Great kiting, great people, super well organized. The guides were amazing (thank you Jo!). Because of the guides local knowledge, we hit the best spots at the best time, taking all the guess work out of the trip. I also really liked the pace - two nights in each poussada slows the pace and allows you to enjoy more of the spots. I look forward to another trip with Garcia & his team!
