Trip Overview

This tailor-made kiteboarding journey covers up to 400 km along Brazil’s spectacular northeast coast, crossing the states of Ceará, Piauí, and Maranhão. Designed for adventurous riders who crave freedom, this trip combines epic downwind sessions with cultural immersion, remote nature, and personalized planning. Choose your own route, pace, and vibe — we’ll take care of the logistics so you can focus on the ride.

This isn’t a tour — it’s an expedition tailored to your crew. Our personalized kite safaris let you design your own downwinder along Brazil’s northeast coast, riding over 400 km through three stunning states: Ceará, Piauí, and Maranhão.

You’ll kite past deserted beaches, carve through empty lagoons, cross wild river mouths, and glide into remote fishing villages — all powered by steady wind and backed by 4×4 and boat support. Whether you want to go fast and far, stay longer in your favorite spots, or add rest days to soak in the vibe, we adapt the trip to your rhythm.

  • Ceará brings wide-open beaches, non-stop wind, and buttery flat spots.
  • Piauí delivers perfect freestyle sessions in the dreamlike waters of Barra Grande.
  • Maranhão offers wild terrain — from the lush Parnaíba Delta to the surreal dunes and lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses.

Ideal for small groups (min. 3 riders), every detail is handled by our experienced team so you can focus on riding, recharging, and reconnecting with nature. No logistics, no crowds — just the raw beauty of Brazil and the freedom to explore it your way.

Who It's For

  • Intermediate to advanced riders comfortable with 30–60 km downwind days

  • Riders who want to explore lagoons, waves, river mouths, and dunes
  • Adventurers seeking a full northeast Brazil experience in one trip

Accommodation & Meals

Along the route, you’ll stay in handpicked pousadas that reflect the soul of Brazil’s northeast coast: welcoming, locally owned, and always close to the water. These aren’t just places to sleep, but part of the cultural journey: from barefoot luxury to laid-back surf vibes.

Breakfast is included daily, and we’ll do our best to accommodate dietary preferences. In the evenings, relax with your crew, enjoy fresh seafood and cold caipirinhas, and swap kite stories under the stars.

What about safety on the water?

Your safety is our top priority. Each kite safari includes full 4×4 support and experienced local guides riding with the group. However, not all beach sections are drivable due to mangroves, rivers, or cliffs; during those moments, you’re free to hop in the car if needed.

We keep group sizes between 3 and 12 riders, with 1–2 guides in the water depending on group size. Our team monitors conditions closely, and if any stretch feels too advanced, riders can safely skip it by land.

Our goal is simple: maximize the adventure, without compromising on safety.

What Kitesurf equipment should I bring?

Bring well-maintained equipment, as repairs can be tricky in remote areas. Two boards and up to four kites per rider are fine. We highly recommend a spare bar, extra lines, repair kit, and replacement footstraps. We carry some tools and spare parts, but can't guarantee compatibility with every brand. Want to mix it up? Bring both twintip and waveboard if you ride both; you’ll have plenty of chances to switch it up. With water temps around 26–28°C, a wetsuit isn’t needed. We provide long-sleeve lycras. Booties are optional, but handy for beginners. Don’t forget your valve adapter if you use a non-standard kite system.

Customization Option

The Combo Safari is all about flexibility. For groups of three or more, we can adapt the journey to match your vision — whether that means extending your stay in Barra Grande, adding extra days in the Parnaíba Delta, or spending more time kiting the lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses. You can also choose upgraded accommodations along the way to make the adventure as comfortable as it is wild. Experience the full northeast coast your way — personalized, seamless, and with full support from our expert team.

FAQs

Our private downwinders are designed for small groups — the minimum is 3 riders, and we typically host up to 12 participants. The ideal group size is 4–8 kiters for a great vibe and seamless logistics.

These safaris are best suited for intermediate to advanced riders with previous downwind experience. Riders should be confident riding independently in various wind and wave conditions. If you're a beginner or unsure, reach out — we may have options like coaching add-ons or gentler routes.

Our full three-state journey from Ceará to Maranhão takes around 15–22 days, depending on your pace and preferences. If you have less time, we can create a shorter, one-state itinerary (e.g. just Ceará or Piauí) from 7–12 days.

No problem. Every itinerary is flexible — it’s your trip. You can add rest days, stay longer in favorite spots, or skip sections by riding in the support vehicle. Just let us know in advance or chat with your guide during the trip.

You should bring 2–4 kites, 2 bars, and at least one board (two if you twintip and surfkite). We recommend bringing spare lines, straps, and any non-standard valve adapters. Booties aren’t needed, but we do suggest a long-sleeve lycra for sun protection. See our full gear guide above.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer private downwinders for solo riders. But if you’re traveling alone, let us know — we may be able to match you with another group or offer a spot on a planned safari.

The wind season runs July to December, with consistent wind 95% of the time. The most popular months are August to November, when conditions are prime for long-distance downwinds.
