Crew & Guides

Local Knowledge. Steady Wind. Total Support.

Our East of Fortaleza crew brings together the perfect mix of experience, passion, and local insight. Every trip is led by seasoned riders who know this coastline inside out — the tides, the wind shifts, the hidden lagoons, and the safest launch and landing zones.

Each group rides with at least one in-water guide, supported by 4×4 drivers following the beach and logistics staff who handle everything behind the scenes. Radios and GPS keep everyone connected, and every day begins with a briefing on wind, safety, and local conditions — so you can focus entirely on the ride.

This isn’t a generic tour — it’s a guided journey designed by kiters, for kiters. The Freeride Kitesurf team makes sure every detail is covered — from gear transport to beach support — so you can simply ride, explore, and enjoy the pure flow of Brazil’s east coast.

Accommodation & Meals

Along the East of Fortaleza route, you’ll stay in handpicked pousadas — authentic, locally run guesthouses right by the beach. They combine comfort with a true sense of place, giving you not just a bed, but an immersion into Brazil’s coastal lifestyle. Meals highlight regional flavors, with fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and daily breakfast included. We do our best to accommodate dietary needs. Evenings are easygoing and social — the perfect time to relax after long sessions, enjoy local cuisine, and swap stories with fellow riders before the next day’s adventure.

What about safety on the water?

On the East of Fortaleza downwinder, you’ll always ride with experienced local guides by your side — in the water, not just onshore. Our 4×4 support follows the route along the beach, ready to step in for quick gear swaps or assistance whenever needed. Radios keep the team connected, and each stage of the journey is carefully planned around the group’s level and conditions.

The goal is to keep things smooth and stress-free, so you can focus on the ride itself. With safety handled, you’re free to push yourself, enjoy the long sessions, and take in the raw beauty of Ceará’s east coast — knowing you’ve got a crew watching your back every step of the way.

What Kitesurf equipment should I bring?

Make sure your gear is in top shape — repairs on the road can be tricky. Two boards and up to four kites per rider are welcome, and having a spare bar or extra set of lines is a smart call. Double-check your footstraps and pack replacements if you can. We’ll have some repair gear on hand, but it may not fit every brand. You’ll have the chance to swap boards or kites along the way, so bringing both a twin-tip and a surfboard is a great option. With water temps around 26–28°C, no wetsuit is needed — a lycra is plenty, and we’ll provide one for extra sun protection. Booties usually aren’t necessary, though less experienced riders might appreciate them in a few spots. And don’t forget: if your kite has a unique valve system, pack your own adapter.

Customization Option

We offer fully customizable East of Fortaleza downwind kite trips for groups of three or more. Whether you’d like to extend the journey, include upgraded accommodations, or add unique stops along the route, our team will shape the adventure around your vision. Experience the raw beauty of Ceará’s east coast your way — with flexibility, comfort, and full support.

Also recommended:

  • Waterproof sunblock

From the pick up at the airport to the end we had a blast! Best kiting adventure ever. Thanks to Garcia and Raphael our guides on the water, our photographer Karina, our three drivers ( special mention to Igor) plus our amazing pousadas our all trip was a dream come true. The downwinders gave us the opportunity to discover so many different places. Merci Freeride Kitesurf

We just returned from two weeks organized by García in Brazil. From Fortaleza to Jericoacoara. Organization, locations, accommodations, transportation, lessons, downwinds, and more were perfect. A unique experience to repeat and recommended for all kitesurfing levels. But most importantly, there was always someone available to contact in case of questions or needs, making the day-to-day experience very personalized to our needs.

Just finished an epic trip with Freeridekitesurf- the classic downwinder. Great kiting, great people, super well organized. The guides were amazing (thank you Jo!). Because of the guides local knowledge, we hit the best spots at the best time, taking all the guess work out of the trip. I also really liked the pace - two nights in each poussada slows the pace and allows you to enjoy more of the spots. I look forward to another trip with Garcia & his team!

I had the most amazing safari trip with Freeride Kitesurf in November 2022, and met new friends, enjoyed kiting downwind every other day instead of every day, loved the wave spots en route, and the daily caipirinhas of course. We stayed in some gorgeous pousadas and hotels along the way and our guide Bruno was great company and made everything go smoothly.

Another awesome trip with Freeride, surfing up the wild and windy coast of Brasil…Garcia planned it all for us and the team (and warm winds) did the rest. Thanks again Garcia
