A Downwind Kite Safari is a multi-day kitesurfing adventure where you travel with the wind along Brazil’s northeast coast, kiting from one village to the next. Each day brings new scenery, from lagoons and river mouths to dunes, mangroves and remote fishing villages — all supported by 4x4 vehicles and rescue boats when needed.

Not necessarily. We offer different routes for all levels — from progressive trips for low intermediates to advanced more technical routes. The wind is generally side-onshore, which makes conditions safe and beginner-friendly for downwind riding with support always nearby.

Every trip includes 4x4 vehicle support following the coastline and boat support where access is limited. Our experienced guides know the terrain inside out and maintain constant communication, ensuring you can ride freely and safely.

FAQs

From August to December is the best time, with daily side-on-shore winds and warm weather.

From end of July to December, Brazil’s trade winds blow almost daily with 18–30+ knots, often even stronger in the afternoons. It’s one of the most wind-reliable regions in the world — that’s why we call it kite paradise.

You’ll experience a mix of flatwater lagoons, small wave sections, river mouths and open ocean stretches. Each route is unique — from the wild dunes of Maranhão to the smooth lagoons of Ceará and the playful waves of Rio Grande do Norte.

Bring at least two kites suited for strong, steady wind — typically Men: 7m & 9m / Women: 5m & 8m - depending on weight. A twin-tip or surfboard works depending on your route. Helmets, rash guards and impact vests are recommended for longer rides.

Solo travelers are very welcome! We group riders by route type, creating small teams of like-minded kiters who share the same pace and spirit of adventure.

Our downwind kite safaris include accommodation in handpicked pousadas, daily breakfast, 4x4 and/or boat support, local guides and airport transfers on most routes. Some trips also include pro coaching or optional extensions to rest and explore.

If you love waves and progression, the Wave Riding Coaching Safari is ideal. If you want everything in one trip and have time, go for the Downwind Combo Safari, in which we'll customize the route for you. If you crave raw adventure, the Wild North is the ultimate ride. And for those short on time, the Classic Downwind Express delivers maximum thrill in fewer days.
