Where to Kitesurf in Barra Grande

Main Beach – Praia de Barra Grande

Kiting here is ideal between high and low tides, where you’ll find the flattest waters at a depth of around 1.4 meters — perfect for freestyle. Further out, a sandbank creates a shore break with waves up to 2 meters, great for wave riding. This spot is suitable for kiters of all levels.

Lagoa do Mangue

Kiting 2 km downwind takes you to this stunning spot where a wide sandbar separates the open ocean from a lagoon surrounded by mangroves. The landscape is truly spectacular and the conditions are unbeatable. On one side of the sandbank, the lagoon offers glassy flat water; on the other, the ocean delivers open waves. To return to Barra Grande, you can kite back upwind or rent a donkey and cart!
